What If....

Photobucket
I was thinking today, what if I won $5000 dollars that I could not spend on bills, or other "necessity" things, or share with Wesley,or Robert, or any kind of charity.

I think I might just go crazy and buy a pair of Amazing Christian Louboutin Heels, but I know I would be tempted to go on to zappos and buy an entirely new shoe wardrobe for the same price. I would then get hair-extensions, and a spa-day, I would still have about $3500 left. Hmmmm... what to do....

Wesley just suggested we go to Europe and tour all the 5-star restaurants in style. He is so sweet, It kind of bends the "selfish" rules, but I'll let it fly. ;)

What would you do?

A lovely day

What could be better than eating sushi and lettuce wraps out on the patio at Thaifoon, in the shade of the trees.. then watching all the kids play in the fountain, and taking a leisurely walk and sharing a candied apple with my honey. Ahh...simple pleasures. :)

Ins and Outs of the month!

So I saw this idea on another blog, and I love it! So I'm going to do it too! Basically it's just posting what was great and not so great about your month. A great way to summarize, and also a good way to vent, while still remembering all the good things. So, Here we go!

Outs: Not too many, but---

Zits! Hate them!

In the summer When you park your car, get groceries, come back and you open the car door and it feels like a blazing inferno

Seeing Stick-thin Models walking around the mall with their brand-new babies, yet perfect hair, crazy expensive (but so cute) outfits, and no sign of baby-fat... BLURG!!

Making an amazing dinner, only to finish and realize you have to clean the kitchen...

Wanting a puppy so badly, but not being able to have one yet... :(

Ins:

Robert laughing hysterically for the first time when we played "chase". Giggling and laughing so much that I think I'm good for another month. :)

Tillamook cheese, already posted about that ;)

Cute shoes! You can never go wrong!

Wesley writing me love notes on the bathroom mirror

When my students succeed

Seeing my good friends get married

Coming home to see Wesley and Robert all snuggly in a nap.

Horchata!! (Costa Vida has unlimited Refills by the way, awesome!)

Being outside, taking care of a garden

Laughing with my sisters

My at-home spa/Selfish time after everyone else is asleep: Taking a shower, giving myself a facial, a mani-pedi, lotioning up with a fantastic smelling lotion, and then reading/meditating/writing before I go to bed. F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!! So worth staying up an extra couple of peaceful, ME hours. :)

I love visiting teaching!

It's been such a great way to get to know the women in our ward. I've made some great friends because of it, and it's wonderful to do such simple service. I look forward to it every month, and I treasure the friendship, encouragement, and enlightenment it brings.

Incubus rocks!

I haven't partied this hard since my high-school days... and I was so sore the next day... am I too old for this?? (haha!) Wes and I went to the Incubus concert, and wow, it was FUN! We hired a girl from the ward to babysit, and headed out to USANA just the two of us. Incubus puts on a great live show! We were energized, and silly, and felt like kids again. Wes just picked me up and carried me to the gate laughing, where we had tickets just behind the VIP section, danced and rocked-out, and just as we were leaving- A drunk guy ran into me while running full-speed down the aisle, (I have some pretty wicked bruises to prove it too..)and Wes defended me. My knight in shining armor, hehe! ;) and we topped off the night with two large Horchatas from Beto's. mmmmmm. A perfect way to end the night. Not to mention Robert was sound asleep when we got home. :)

Camping!

The sawtooth mountains in Idaho are beautiful. The lakes are absolutely clear, and blue, almost Caribbean-like. The air is pure, the mountains are thickly covered with trees, and the best part is making memories with the people we love. Campfires, chopping wood, hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, dutch-oven, looking up at night to the millions of stars in the sky, laughing, Irish-drinking songs, bug-spray, and no showers. It was wonderful. pics to come!

The nearly terrible fourth of July...

Photobucket

So Wes and I wanted to celebrate our first fourth of July as a family, planning a really fun day with a picnic and fireworks. We figured out too late that Robert is too young to stay up for fireworks. When we got in the car to go to Sugarhouse park, Robert was cranky, and when we started to drive, the screaming began. I felt terrible, but I thought once we got there, he would love seeing all the bright lights. Okay, I knew you had to get there early, but seriously, it was a little ridiculous. I guess not hundreds of people go, but thousands, I'm not kidding. (I read in the paper the day after that it really was thousands.) No chance for us to see fireworks there. Still wanting to see the fireworks, minus the gigantic crowds and parking headache, we headed to the U to see all the fireworks in the valley, fun! Nope, buildings everywhere blocked our view. We got on to Foothill, and somehow got off course into local roads, which just happened to be jam-packed and inching along, with every side-street just as crammed and slow, not to mention, the gas-light came on...and we had no idea how long it would take us to get out. (oh, the poor crying child was still crying). So, after an hour and 20 minutes of trying to get through the traffic mess, and seeing a few pretty fireworks go off through the car windows, we finally made it out to a main road, and there was a gas-station right there on the corner. Yay!! And the little guy finally fell asleep. The firework shows were all over, but the night was not lost! There was a little park across the street from the gas-station that was very pretty, and we decided to have a picnic there. We pulled out the blankets under the warm and starry night air, peaceful and alone, (no crowds) set out our yummy picnic, and watched videos of the washington fireworks on Wes's phone, while Robert snoozed comfy in his carseat. It turned out to be a very fun night after all, and we're thinking that park will be our tradition for years to come.

Aviary Fun

Birds, birds, and more birds. We fed the ducks, fed the conures, talked to a peacock, and heard some cool bird sounds. (I think Wes enjoyed feeding the ducks more than Robert, hehe!) Here are some highlights.

yay for birds!
